Hey guys, I’ve recently been having bad asthma symptoms, and my dad gave me a ProAir HFA inhaler to use, and told me it said to only use it twice a day (as I know long term inhalers say to). However, looking into it, I think I’ve been mistaken, and that this is a short acting inhaler. Am I right? : Asthma

Generally speaking, albuterol usually lasts for about 2 hrs. That’s why it’s known as a quick reliever. If you are needing it more than twice a day (or actually even more than twice a week consistently), it’s a sign that you have more persistent asthma that needs to be controlled by something that lasts all day (a controller inhaler).

I made a video that tries to explain the difference- https://youtu.be/2ur1XreTiNg
